Transplants
In a barrio, more urban and crowded than the
wide open fields and dense forests teeming with wildlife,
wide open fields and dense forests teeming with wildlife,
the home I once knew and remains in my dreams and my heart,
but now I must abandon to attempt to assimilate with others,
who though are the same as me, the same species, but maybe not color,
will always see me as different, despite all my efforts
to fit in is futile, as my accents will always be born naked
as those I wish to be near draw closer and comment immediately
playfully poking fun as "mistakes" and misnomers
as I attempt to translate my roots into the culture and ambiance of which is now
my home.
