Last One!
Last One!
Businesses shuttered, art and dreams in ruins,
all in the name of growth and fifty square meter families
messages of the street and tags that only some notice and recognize
they remain and will be the last to go, the phantoms of a culture that is dying
Cosechas that were once offered on carts by entrepreneurs and families
now is a brand and franchised, exporting the connection of community
New residents of upper stratos now deem what is acceptable and allowed
as if those who occupy a bench or alley at night lack the rights to exist
Those who have it the hardest should be neither seen nor heard
but then we pray for them and provide through foundations to ensure the profit of friends
The crosses they claim to bear is what keeps the artists, and people of the street
warm in their faith and hope for a better future, perhaps not now, but in the heaven that may exist
